Popcorn may be my favourite thing in the world, but there’s only so much a girl can write about a salty, buttery movie treat. So this is a glimpse of all the other things I am eating, drinking, reading, watching and listening to, incase you want to give them a whirl too.
I'm sure you're all aware of my book obsession by now. I'm not entirely sure what it is but as soon as I walk into a book store I get butterflies in my stomach and my whole body comes alive with excitement as I browse through novels, travel memoirs, picturesque decorating books and the latest biography. It's quite sick really. My wish lists on Amazon and FishPond have become beyond ridiculous.
But I also love looking at the creative and kitschy ways people display their own impressive collections. Here are a couple I'm really digging at the moment.
So what are you reading at the moment?
I've just started Nikki Gemmell's new book With My Body. Those who have read her controversial Bride Stripped Bare will welcome back her unique descriptive style and recognise her intensity and fearless in discussing her characters deepest, darkest feelings.
No, this is not a tribute to the late 90s sister duo who brought out that originally named 'Sister' song. It's a post about my beautiful sister.
Those of you who are blessed enough to have a sister will know there is nothing like the bond of sisterhood. Your sister is someone you can be completely yourself around, someone to share amazing memories with and someone you can have an argument with one second and forget what it was even about the next.
There are little over four and a half years between me and my sister, so we weren't the best of friends growing up. But now she is about to graduate from high school and our relationship couldn't be more different.
In the last few years I have watched my sister grow into a beautiful, happy, kind-hearted young woman. She is always playful and her smile is infectious! She never judges anyone and makes friends so easily because of this. She's very creative and whenever she whips out her art books I'm always so intrigued.
She also loves music as much as I do. I'm very excited for her to turn 18 in just less than three months! Oh, the gigs we can attend! The r&b clubs we can shake our booties at! The roadtrips we can take!
My sister came down to Brisbane to spend a weekend with me not too long ago and we had a lovely time - rocked out to The Wombats, shopped up a storm, laughed our way through a movie and took in some pretty cool art galleries.
A few weekends ago I took a trip back to Coolum to visit family and partake in a bit of a seachange. I love living in the city - surrounded by dazzling lights, bussling streets and the comforting noise of knowing there is a whole world of things to do waiting just outside. But I also love to stroll along the beach, digging my toes into the sand, watching the waves lap the shore and feel the cool breeze and sea air. It's such a great feeling to be able to walk down the street, through a small stretch of bush and emerge into the freshness of the beach.
So far the weather in Brisbane still has that Spring feel to it - the sun is warming up but it's kept cool by a nice breeze. I'm hoping it stays like this for a while longer.
